How it works

  1. Drop your cover and audio. An image (JPG, PNG, WEBP up to 20 MB) or a video background (MP4, MOV, WEBM up to 50 MB), plus an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG up to 50 MB) — all read locally.
  2. Pick the format. 9:16 (1080×1920) for Stories, Reels and TikTok, 1:1 (1080×1080) or 4:5 (1080×1350) for the Instagram feed, 16:9 (1920×1080) for YouTube.
  3. Export the MP4. H.264 with AAC audio, encoded in your browser — up to 10 minutes of audio, with a clean fade-out at the end.

Features

  • Four social-ready formats. 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 and 16:9, all in full HD (1080-pixel base) — one tool for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
  • Image or video background. Use a still cover (scaled to fill the frame, no black bars) or a looping video background — with volume mixing when the video has its own sound.
  • Clean H.264 export. MP4 in H.264 (CRF 23, yuv420p) with 192 kbps AAC and faststart — it plays everywhere and uploads anywhere.
  • 100% in your browser. Encoding runs locally with ffmpeg.wasm — your cover and your track never leave your machine.

FAQ

Is the cover video maker free?

Yes. Anonymous users get 5 free uses per day across AudioKit's free tools — no account needed. A use is only counted when you export the MP4; uploading files, picking a format and previewing is free. AudioKit Premium removes the daily limit.

Are my cover and audio uploaded to a server?

No. The video is composed and encoded entirely in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm and never leaves your machine. The only network call is a tiny anonymous counter that tracks your daily free quota.

Which dimensions should I use for Instagram and TikTok?

9:16 (1080×1920) is the one for TikTok, Reels, Stories and YouTube Shorts — full-screen vertical. For the Instagram feed, 4:5 (1080×1350) takes the most screen space; 1:1 (1080×1080) is the classic square. Use 16:9 (1920×1080) for a regular YouTube upload. All four are one click away in the tool.

How long can the video be?

Up to 10 minutes of audio — enough for a full track on YouTube, not just a teaser. The practical limits are the 50 MB audio file size and your browser's memory for very long encodes. A soft fade-out is applied at the end so the video never cuts dead.

What is the difference with the Audio visualizer?

Cover video puts your artwork (or a looping video) behind the full length of your track, in four formats — it is the classic “full song on YouTube” video. The Audio visualizer animates the artwork inside a moving scene for short vertical loops (5–30 s) like Spotify Canvas and Reels covers.
